Peter Adams has been involved with professional indemnity claims for over 10 years, having trained and worked with a City firm specialising in the area before joining Edesia Law.

Peter has experience defending claims against a variety of professionals including solicitors, insurance brokers and those in the construction industry.  He also regularly deals with coverage issues across a range of policies.  Peter obtained Higher Rights of Audience in 2020.

Examples of Cases Peter has handled include:

• A £2.6 million multi-party claim against an insurance broker regarding allegations of failing to advise its client of the duty of fair presentation to insurers.
• A £7 million claim against a firm of solicitors by multiple claimants relating to advice given in a property transaction.
• A £660,000 loss of chance claim against a firm of solicitors which was struck out on a limitation point Peter identified.
• A £131,000 claim against a firm of architects for allegedly specifying inappropriate roofing material.
• Advising on coverage in respect of an IFA’s professional indemnity policy for a claim in excess of £2 million arising out of fraud.
